Lewis & Clarke
Blasts of Holy Birth
La Société Expéditionnaire 2007

An exploratory journey through the intricate mysteries of creation. Nylon stringed and bowed instruments are set to transcendental verse and laced with future-primitive synth melodies, transporting us from structured chamber folk into meditative passageways. A metaphor of birth and process, inspired by an ancient text with contributions from members of Man Man and Rachel's. Cover painting by
Erika Somogyi.

Live on WPRB
La Société Expéditionnaire 2006

This 12" vinyl-only limited edition release is a testament to the radio performance which captures the beauty and magic of transitional metamorphosis. This offering bridges the gap between 2005's Bare Bones and Branches and the 2007 release of Blasts of Holy Birth. The loose, fresh versions of past favourites blend with workings of new material, setting a striking ambience including various chimes, vocals, eastern drones, harp, guitar, banjo, piano, percussion, and other whims.

Bare Bones and Branches (US Release)
Summersteps 2005

"This is a sincerely brilliant piece of work...something unique, equal parts alt-country and chamber folk, sophisticated yet rustic." - Crown Dozen

"A whisper of an album, lovely without being precious, moody without being beleaguering." - No Depression

Lewis & Clarke
Bare Bones and Branches (European Release)
Delboy 2003

"you haven't seen it in any form. It's time-friendly, interpretively communicative and complete. It's the little black dress of music when the Stones flash a few too many sequins... honest and terribly desirable." - Lumino

"This group is spot-on...meandering melodies on a spool of reflective vocal lines, and sometimes unorthodox song structures... like an up-tempo visit to Scarborough Fair." - Rockpile

Lewis & Clarke
Bright Light EP
Delboy / Carpet the Sun 2003

"Sequestered in upstate Pennsylvania, songwriter Lou Rogai probes the american underbelly like some northeast cousin of Howe Gelb. On the one hand, Rogai seems desperate in his isolation; the title track shivers from the weight of a Neil Young sense-memory. But there's serenity, too, particularly on Giant Sand-meets-Bad Seeds desert waltz "No Name Disaster." Three memorable songs from a gifted newcomer- and housed in an ornate cardboard ring-binder package for maximium tactile impact." -MAGNET

Lewis & Clarke
Bright Light 7"
Delboy / Carpet the Sun 2003
La Société Expéditionnaire 2006 Reissue

"Performed to the hilt, with sincerity and authenticity...with maturity and enough perspective and respect for the song to never overplay... a mournful slow-burning sound that fills the air. It's a sound that will never tire, never go out of fashion, and hopefully will be delivered in a long-playing format sometime soon." - Delusions of Adequacy
